L3 Technologies (NYSE:LLL) announced today that its Platform Integration division in Waco, Texas, has won a 2017 James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award from the U.S. Department of Defense, Defense Security Service (DSS). L3 is one of 36 recipients of this year’s award from a field of more than 13,500 cleared defense contractor facilities.

The Cogswell Award is the highest recognition a company can receive for the handling of classified information with integrity, discretion and proven reliability. The 2017 award marks the 13th consecutive year that L3 has achieved one or more Cogswell Awards for its industry-leading security practices, and this is the 25th Cogswell Award that L3 has received since 2005. L3 Platform Integration is part of the Aircraft Systems sector within the Aerospace Systems business segment.

“This outstanding achievement is a testament to the excellence and dedication of our security professionals across the company,” said Michael T. Strianese, L3’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “Protecting and contributing to national security is a responsibility we take very seriously, and this recognition from DSS reaffirms L3’s commitment to security strategies that reflect the growing global threat environment.”

“We are honored to be recognized once again by DSS and are extremely proud of our men and women who do the important work that makes a difference for our customers and uniformed service members,” added Vincent L. Jarvie, L3’s Vice President of Corporate Security. “We continue to sharpen our focus on every aspect of security.”

In selecting Cogswell Award candidates, a national review team competitively ranks the closely vetted nominees, with DSS making the final award selections. The criteria for winning candidates encompass establishing and maintaining a security program that exceeds National Industrial Security Program requirements and providing leadership to other cleared facilities in establishing best practices while maintaining the highest standards for security.

Headquartered in New York City, L3 Technologies employs approximately 38,000 people worldwide and is a leading provider of a broad range of communication, electronic and sensor systems used on military, homeland security and commercial platforms.
