Five $10,000 scholarships awarded to high
school seniors entering an accredited college or university
CDK Global, Inc. (Nasdaq:CDK), along with the National
Association of Minority Automobile Dealers (NAMAD), today announced
the recipients of its inaugural “Fueling Careers” Scholarship
Program. Five high school seniors were awarded scholarships in the
amount of $10,000, enabling each to take their first steps toward a
higher education and a prosperous career.
“On behalf of Brian MacDonald, CEO, and Leslie A. Brun,
chairman, CDK Global board of directors, we are extremely honored
and proud to announce the scholarship recipients of our first
annual ‘Fueling Careers’ Program,” said Tony Graham, chief customer
experience officer and co-chair of the Corporate Responsibility
Council at CDK Global. “It is gratifying to recognize these current
scholars and future leaders that are truly deserving of this
opportunity. These young men and women give us all lasting hope for
the future.”
The winners of the 2017 Fueling Careers Scholarship are:
- Amanda Bowden – attending the
University of Georgia as an Atmospheric Sciences & Meteorology
major
- Tyra Harris – attending Alabama A&M
University as a Construction Management major
- Sabrina Linares – attending Florida
Atlantic University as an Accounting major
- Mercedes Mireles – attending Wayne
State University as a Political and Legal Studies major
- Travis Render, Jr. – attending Georgia

“Both NAMAD and CDK have a strong track record of working
together to support the minority dealer community, and this program
represents a tremendous opportunity to help identify and nourish
the future trailblazers of the automotive industry,” said Damon
Lester, NAMAD president. “It is our sincere hope that the financial
support these scholarships provide will help ambitious young men
and women pursue educational goals that will prepare them for
meaningful and productive professional careers — which will enhance
their lifestyles and enable them to make significant contributions
to society.”
The Fueling Careers Scholarship Program began earlier this year
in collaboration with CDK’s long standing partner, NAMAD. It aims
to provide eligible applicants with the opportunity to chase their
education and career-specific goals. Applicants eligible for a
Fueling Careers Scholarship must be a minority high school senior
who plans to attend an accredited college/university, have a parent
employed by a NAMAD dealership, and be sponsored by a current NAMAD
member.
The scholarship application and award process was managed by
International Scholarship and Tuition Services, Inc. (ISTS).
Selection of ten award finalists was performed by ISTS, while the
final five award recipients were then chosen by the Fueling Careers
Scholarship Committee consisting of CDK and NAMAD members. Award
recipients were selected based upon both academic merit and
financial need. Additional program information can be found
