A fierce weekend featuring open competition for the Call of Duty
World League Presented by PlayStation®4 (CWL) kicks-off today at
the CWL Anaheim Open, hosted by Major League Gaming Corp (MLG).
Additionally, the first CWL all-star match at an open bracket event
will pit two of the biggest names in the league in a live-draft,
while scores of teams will compete for the title of CWL Anaheim
Open Champion. All of this takes place at the Anaheim Convention
Center through this weekend as top teams from North America,
Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region (APAC) will compete for their
share of the $200,000 event prize pool, with the finals taking
place on Sunday, June 18.
As the CWL Championship this August draw closer, the competitive
action continues to heat up. CWL Anaheim features over 120 teams
from around the world in open play, all vying for one of only four
spots in the pool group finals. Four teams from the open tournament
will join previously qualified pro teams – including OpTic Gaming,
FaZe Clan and Splyce – as well as the four winning teams from the
Relegation Qualifier in competition for their chance to be named
CWL Anaheim Open Champion.
Additionally, Thursday’s Relegation Qualifier winners Cloud9,
BitterSweet, Fnatic and Red Reserve move on to compete at the CWL
Global Pro League Stage 2, later this month. CWL Global Pro League
Stage 2 competition begins June 30 in Columbus, Ohio, and will
include 16 teams from around the world. These teams will compete
for a chance at their share of the $700,000 CWL Global Pro League
Stage 2 prize pool as part of the overall $4 million prize pool for
the 2017 CWL season.
CWL Anaheim celebrates the best competitors of the CWL Global
Pro League Stage 1 with Splyce's Ben "Bance" Bance and Luminosity's
Sam "Octane" Larew drafting players live to compete in an All-Star
match, set to be played on June 16.
For those interested in attending CWL Anaheim, General Admission
(GA), three-day tickets, are currently available online for $49.99.
The tickets will also be offered on a first-come, first-served
basis at the Anaheim Convention Center.
