HOUSTON, June 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Briggs & Stratton Corporation is helping U.S. veterans defend themselves against power outages. In conjunction with generator dealer Power Now LLC, Briggs & Stratton donated a 60kW1 standby generator and two transfer switches to Camp Hope, a private retreat near Houston, Texas, that helps military veterans recover from combat trauma.

Briggs & Stratton donated a 60kW standby generator and two transfer switches to Camp Hope.

"The donation will help thousands of camp residents continue their recovery program uninterrupted, regardless of the weather outside that could cause a power interruption to the property," said John Taggart, owner of Power Now LLC. "Camp Hope is founded and run on donations, so when they asked Power Now and Briggs & Stratton for help, I knew the donation would be put to good use."

Veterans living at Camp Hope receive highly skilled support to help heal from combat trauma and post-traumatic stress. Camp Hope often experiences power outages due to severe weather. The donation will supply reliable backup power to the facility's Chapel/Recreation building and a large walk-in cooler.

"Briggs & Stratton is honored to support our military members, veterans and their families in recognition of their service and sacrifices," said Rob Poehlein, Senior Director of Sales for Briggs & Stratton standby power. "It's a privilege to provide protection in the form of dependable backup power to those who have protected our country."

Camp Hope is supported by the PTSD Foundation of America and relies on the generosity of others to provide help and hope for veterans and their families.
