Lewis Black performs rants written by fans in this new audio show, released weekly through August on the Audible app

Audible Inc., the world’s largest seller and producer of downloadable audiobooks and other spoken word entertainment, today announced the release of Lewis Black: The Rant is Due, an original audio series hosted by Emmy and Grammy Award-winning comedian and political satirist Lewis Black in which the sharp-witted comic performs diatribes submitted by his fans. For the first time, these hilarious rants, performed in front of a live audience, are curated and produced as a weekly audio program. The first nine episodes in the comedy series are now available in the Audible app under Channels, and listeners can find additional information and latest episodes, and propose their own Lewis Black rants, at Audible.com/lewisblack.

Lewis Black: The Rant is Due takes listeners on a cross-country tour with Black as he performs his trademark style of comedy – skewering anything and everything that gets under his skin. Fans can submit any topic, personal story or even a fully-scripted monologue on subjects ranging from marriage and media to food and politics. Each episode is recorded live, and personalized with introductions improvised by Black.

"I could not be more thrilled that The Rant is Due has found a home at Audible,” said Lewis Black. “A new audience will hear the rants of their fellow citizens, and my two cents as well. It will not change your life but it will be a lot of fun. And if it’s not a lot of fun, it will piss you off and that’s a really good time in my book."

“We are excited to partner with legendary comic Lewis Black on the Audible original production of The Rant is Due,” said Audible Chief Content Officer Andy Gaies. “Through our curated live experience, listeners can enjoy singular access to the range of Lewis’ signature comedy stand-up rants on the go.”

Lewis Black is known for his regular appearance on The Daily Show. His Emmy-nominated stand-up specials have aired on HBO and Comedy Central. He is also a voice actor for animated films – most recently as “Anger” in Pixar’s Inside Out. He has written three best-selling books and over forty plays, and over a million followers connect with Lewis on social media daily.

Among the sidesplitting comedy series launched by Audible in recent months are Will Arnett’s high-concept comedy show, The Comedy Show Show and Nick Offerman’s Bedtime Stories for Cynics, a series of inappropriate children’s stories for adults.

Introduced earlier this year, Audible Channels gives high-quality short-form audio content a dedicated home. Audible Channels is free with an Audible membership and to Amazon Prime members, and also available to purchase as a standalone offering for $4.95 a month. Additional new original series and shows are announced and added regularly. For more information about Audible Channels and the wide array of shows found therein, visit audible.com/Channels.

Audible invented and commercialized the first digital audio player in 1997, and has since been at the forefront of the explosively growing audiobook download segment. In 2016, Audible members downloaded an average of almost 17 books over the course of the year. More than half of new Audible members are first-time audiobook buyers.
