LONDON--BP PLC (BP.LN) said Monday it had made a third gas
discovery in its 100%-owned North Damietta offshore concession in
the East Nile delta of Egypt.
The Qattameya shallow-1 exploration well was drilled to a total
depth of 1,961 metres, the oil supermajor said, and the presence of
37 metres of net gas pay has been confirmed, in high-quality
Pliocene sandstones.
Options to tie the discovery back to nearby infrastructure are
being studied, BP said.
