Northern Trust Announces Paul S. Lee Elected Fellow of the American College of Trust & Estate Counsel

Northern Trust announced today that Paul S. Lee, Regional Wealth
Advisor, has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Trust
& Estate Counsel (ACTEC). He joins seven others from Northern
Trust who have previously been elected ACTEC fellows,
including Svetlana V. Bekman, Senior Legal Counsel, Stacy E.
Singer, Central Region Trust & Advisor Practice Executive,
Susan D. Snyder, Trust Counsel and Associate General Counsel,
Suzanne L. Shier, Chief Wealth Planning and Tax Strategist, Tami F.
Conetta, East Region Trust and Advisory Practice Executive, R. Hugh
Magill, Chief Fiduciary Officer, and Jane G. Ditelberg, Assistant
General Counsel, Trust.

Paul S. Lee is a Regional Wealth Advisor of The Northern
Trust Company. He is based in New York and is responsible for
providing strategic tax, estate planning, and investment advice to
high-net-worth clients and their advisors. Prior to joining
Northern Trust, Lee served as a National Managing Director in the
New York Office of Bernstein Global Wealth Management where he
provided customized wealth planning solutions for family offices
and ultra-high-net-worth clients. Earlier in his tenure at
Bernstein, he was responsible for opening the firm’s first non-U.S.
private client office in London, and established the investment
infrastructure for all of Bernstein’s non-U.S. private clients. Lee
began his career practicing law and became a Partner in the Tax,
Estate Planning and Wealth Protection Group at Smith, Gambrell
& Russell, LLP. He received both a J.D. and LL.M. degree, with
honors, from Emory University School of Law, and a B.A. degree, cum
laude, in English and Chemistry from Cornell University. In 2014,
he was inducted into the NAEPC Estate Planning Hall of Fame®, and
designated an Accredited Estate Planner® (Distinguished). A
frequent lecturer and panelist on investment, tax and estate
planning, he has spoken at various industry meetings, including:
the Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning, ACTEC National
Meeting, Southern Federal Tax Institute, USC Tax Institute,
Southern California Tax & Estate Planning Forum, and the AICPA
Advanced Estate Planning Conference, among others. Lee’s articles
have been published in numerous journals, including: The ACTEC Law
Journal, Estate Planning Journal, Trusts & Estates, BNA Tax
Management Memorandum, BNA Tax Management Estates, Gifts and Trusts
Journal, and Estate Planning & Community Property Law Journal.
He co-authored the law review article, “Retaining, Sustaining and
Obtaining Basis,” which was awarded Outstanding Law Review Article
in 2016 by the Texas Bar Foundation. He is a member of several
boards and organizations, including the Editorial Board of The
Practical Tax Lawyer, the Advisory Council for the Heckerling
Institute on Estate Planning, Bloomberg BNA Estates, Gifts, &
Trusts Advisory Board, and the Wilson Society Advisory Council for
the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.
