Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: EXTR), today announced the appointment of
John Shoemaker to chairman of the
board of directors, effective today. Shoemaker has served as
an active member of Extreme's Board for many years and currently
chairs its Nominating and Governance Committee.

Shoemaker is an industry veteran with significant experience at
high technology companies, including Altera, SonicWall, Sun
Microsystems and Xerox. In addition, Shoemaker has held various
senior and executive-level management positions as senior vice
president of worldwide marketing at Xerox and vice president and
general manager of its Document Systems Business as well as
executive vice president of worldwide operations at Sun
Microsystems and executive vice president and general manager of
its Computer Systems Division. Shoemaker holds a bachelor's degree
from Hanover College, a master of
business administration degree from Indiana
University Kelley Business School and completed Ph.D.
coursework at the Indiana University
School of Government. At Altera, Inc., Shoemaker served as a member
on the Board of Directors and also served as Chairman of the
Compensation Committee. In addition, he served as Chairman of the
Board at SonicWall, Inc. and has also served on a number of startup
Boards including Astute Technologies, Inc. and Conformative
Systems, Inc. He is also an advisor to the Johnson Center for
Innovation & Entrepreneurship and Kelley Business School at
Indiana University.
Shoemaker succeeds John Kispert
who has decided to step down from the Board to focus on other
