Alaska Communications (NASDAQ:ALSK) recently renewed its status as Alaska’s only Microsoft Gold Education Partner, continuing its commitment to serving students and teachers across Alaska.

The partnership creates an opportunity for Alaska’s teachers and students to bring the latest technology into classrooms with Alaska Communications, the state’s leading broadband and IT solutions provider.

“We can provide Microsoft Classroom, Skype for Business, Microsoft Forms and Microsoft Education to schools. These are products that make educating more efficient and engaging for students and teachers,” Alaska Communications Vice President of Managed Services Chris Reaburn said.

Microsoft Classroom enables collaboration from anywhere in the world, connecting students and teachers in new ways. Students can deliver homework, receive content from their teachers, and complete projects in group environments digitally, no matter their location.

“Imagine Academy is another product with great potential,” Reaburn said. “It allows students to learn in-depth about Microsoft products, to the point where they can graduate high school with Microsoft certifications. That is a major step toward preparing them for the real-world work environment.”

Imagine Academy even uses the popular video game Minecraft to teach basic coding. This is just one of the tools Microsoft has developed as a way of merging students’ interests with education.

The partnership was earned based on customer references and specific competencies. Alaska Communications is the only Microsoft Gold Education Partner in the state, and has access to Microsoft’s solution architects to help develop innovative solutions to meet education needs.
