On January 19, 2017 The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation (the
“Company”) sent a redemption notice to U.S. Bank National Association, the Property Trustee for Mellon Capital III, which will result in the redemption of £200,000,000 liquidation amount of Mellon Capital III’s 6.369% Preferred
Securities (£50,000 liquidation amount per security), ISIN No. XS0266758555, on March 20, 2017. The redemption price of each security will be equal to 100% of the liquidation amount of the security plus accumulated and unpaid
distributions in the amount of £467.388465 per security.
The Company issued a press release on January 19, 2017 regarding the
redemption, which is attached as Exhibit 99.1 to this Current Report on Form 8–K and is incorporated by reference herein.
