Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) has had talks with American Apparel LLC about possibly bidding for the retailer, which sought bankruptcy protection in November, Reuters reported Wednesday.

American Apparel already lined up a $66 million lead bid for its brand name from Gildan Activewear Inc. (GIL, GIL.T).

Reuters reported that American Apparel and its advisers have had discussions with Forever 21 Inc., Next Level Apparel and Authentic Brands Group LLC.
