Man Killed in Stunt

On the Subway

A man who was "surfing" on the outside of a New York City subway car fell to his death over the weekend, police said.

The incident happened shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday, just north of the West Fourth Street station in Greenwich Village.

Police said the unidentified man was holding on to one of the doors of a subway car when he lost his grip and fell.

Third Person Dies

In Wrong-Way Crash

A wrong-way crash has claimed the life of a third person, identified by police as 25-year-old Jonathan Valladares.

The crash occurred Nov. 27 in Brookhaven. Suffolk County police said 23-year-old Kevin Melgar, of Brentwood, was driving a sedan eastbound in the westbound lanes of Sunrise Highway when he crashed into a van.

Mr. Melgar and the van's driver, Ozcan Ayyidiz, were killed. Mr. Valladares was a passenger in Mr. Melgar's car.
