CEMEX Reaffirms Its Commitment to Biodiversity Protection in the COP13

CEMEX, S.A.B. de C.V. (“CEMEX”) (NYSE: CX) announced today its
participation in the thirteenth reunion of the Conference of the
Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP13), held in
Cancun, Mexico, during December. Within the framework of the
Conference, CEMEX reiterated its active role in protecting the
biodiversity in our planet through the signing of the Cancun
Business and Biodiversity Pledge.
CEMEX participated in the 2016 Business and Biodiversity Forum –
Mainstreaming Biodiversity: Opportunities for Businesses, focused
on integrating biodiversity into the planning and operation of
productive sectors including conservation and sustainable use of
biodiversity in business plans, beyond corporate social
responsibility strategies.
During the Forum, Juan Romero, President of CEMEX Mexico, signed
on behalf of the company the mentioned pledge by which CEMEX joins
other signatory companies in the pursuit of concrete actions that
deliver solutions for the conservation of biodiversity, its
sustainable use, and the fair and equitable sharing of benefits
from genetic resources.

Mexico’s Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources last
August.”
Comprised of 196 countries, the Conference of the Parties is the
highest governing body of the UN Convention on Biological
Diversity. In its thirteenth edition, about ten thousand
participants, including representatives of the countries parties,
observer countries, international organizations and others
interested met to negotiate agreements and commitments that give
impulse to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity
