INDIANAPOLIS, Nov. 30, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Celadon Group,
Inc.'s (NYSE: CGI) Celadon Trucking Services announced that it has
earned the 2017 Military Friendly® Employer designation by Victory
Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs®. First published in 2003,
Military Friendly® Employers is the most comprehensive, powerful
resource for veterans today. Each year, the list of Military
Friendly® Employers is provided to service members and their
families, helping them discover the best post-military career
opportunities available.
Companies and organizations earning the Military Friendly®
Employer designation are evaluated using both public data sources
and responses from Victory Media's proprietary survey.
Victory Media determines ratings methodology, criteria, and
weightings with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council
of independent leaders in the higher education and military
recruitment community. Final ratings are determined by
combining an organization's survey score with an assessment of the
organization's ability to meet thresholds for Applicant, New Hire
Retention, Employee Turnover, and Promotion & Advancement of
veterans and military employees.
"Companies that have earned the 2017 Military Friendly® Employer
designation have exceptionally strong hiring programs and
meaningful jobs for transitioning service members, veterans and
spouses," said Daniel Nichols, a
Navy Reserve veteran and Chief Product Officer at Victory Media.
"Our Military Friendly® Employers are truly aligning their jobs and
recruiting efforts with Military Friendly® Schools to translate
military competencies into civilian careers."
Celadon also announced that the company has been approved for
the Veteran Apprenticeship Program through the Department of Labor
and the Veteran's Administration. Future and current Celadon
drivers using GI Bill® benefits may now be eligible to earn
additional monthly income in addition to their regular salary as
they transition into their new trucking careers with Celadon.
Applicants to the 12-month program must be using GI Bill®
benefits to qualify for the program and apply directly to the
Veterans Administration. Veterans will have the opportunity to earn
additional allowances and stipends tax-free from government funding
during the 12-month program. The amounts are determined by
the years served and the type of benefits received through the GI
Bill®.
"Our military veterans have made great sacrifices to serve and
protect our country, and when they return from duty, they deserve
our support," commented Paul Will,
chairman and chief executive officer of the Celadon Group, Inc.
"These veterans provide a wide variety of skills and deep-seated
sense of leadership and drive. Celadon is committed to hiring
military talent, knowing that recruiting veterans is not only the
'right thing to do,' but the right thing for business."
