HOUSTON, Sept. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- One in four
children in Texas live in
households that struggle against hunger, according to No Kid
Hungry, a national campaign dedicated to ending childhood hunger in
America. To combat this staggering rate of child hunger, Flotek
Industries, Inc. (NYSE: FTK) is partnering with the Texas
Independent Producers & Royalty Owners Association (TIPRO) this
September to provide hunger relief to children facing food
insecurity.
"More than 1.8 million children in Texas alone are at risk of not getting the
food they need to lead healthy, active lives," said John Chisholm, Chairman of the Board, CEO and
President of Flotek. "We know that can change through our efforts
to end child hunger, and we are inviting the rest of the industry
to join us in this important mission."
As part of this campaign, Flotek will donate one percent of all
sales revenue generated in September from their Complex nano-Fluid®
– its patented chemistry technology made from orange peel extracts
– to local food banks in areas where the company operates including
Colorado, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Texas.
TIPRO has called on its membership to dedicate their efforts in
September to help make a difference in the fight against child
hunger.
"Texas has higher food
insecurity rates than the U.S. national average, and the impact of
child hunger on our communities is significant," said Ed Longanecker, President of TIPRO. "When you
consider that $1 can provide 11
meals, according to hunger relief charity Feeding America, imagine
what we can do if each TIPRO member donates $1,000 or more. Together, we can make a
significant impact and help change the future of so many
children."
Given the high number of children struggling with hunger daily,
TIPRO and Flotek are inviting their members, employees and the
community to contribute to the effort to end child hunger by making
a donation at www.makingadifference.com.
Donations will go to local food banks' kids programs such as the
Kids Café, which serves healthy meals and snacks year-round to kids
in after school and summer meal programs, and Backpack Buddy, which
provides nutritious kid-friendly food on weekends for at-risk
children in K-12 grades. Flotek employees will be volunteering on
September 9 and September 30 to help distribute these meals to
vulnerable families. To donate or join them in lending a helping
hand, visit www.makingadifference.com.
