LyondellBasell reported a power loss at its refinery in Houston
that led to a unit shutdown and reductions in output.
"A localized power loss resulted in the shutdown of the Sulfur
Recovery Complex (SRC)," the refinery said in a statement to the
Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. "Refinery enacted
emergency rate reductions throughout the plant that placed all
units on minimum throughput. Acid gas from the shutdown SRC was
routed to the No. 2 Plant Flare to maximize emission
reductions."
The emissions of sulfur dioxide at the 264,000-barrel-a-day
refinery, which is located along the Houston Ship Channel, began
Tuesday and were to end Wednesday, it said.
