The Lumewave by Echelon ® PL-RF Gateway
Receives the Distinction for Its Outdoor Lighting Control Hybrid
Solution
Echelon Corporation (NASDAQ:ELON), a leading independent control
networking company for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT),
today announced that the IES Committee has recognized The Lumewave
by Echelon PL-RF Gateway for inclusion in the 2016 Progress Report
for controls. Each year, products, research and activities that
showcase significant technical advancement in the art and science
of lighting are honored. Last year’s IES report described Progress
Report honorees as a “microcosm of our industry. It reveals both an
industry trajectory and the velocity of change.”
“This honor highlights the unique value of our Lumewave by
Echelon intelligent lighting control platform. One key barrier that
our Powerline-RF Gateway product overcomes is the ability to
control lighting regardless of fixture type or location,” said Ron
Sege, CEO and Chairman of Echelon. “We are thrilled to be included
in the group of companies recognized for advancing the lighting
industry.”
The Lumewave by Echelon PL-RF Gateway is the only
commercially-available outdoor control solution that seamlessly
integrates two of the most widely used lighting control
connectivity technologies—powerline and wireless—to provide
flexibility, reduce deployment costs, and ease maintenance.
City-wide deployments in Bellingham, WA and Cambridge, MA are today
utilizing this solution to intelligently manage their diverse LED
streetlighting systems. The Lumewave by Echelon PL-RF Gateway
enables the customer to mix and match connectivity options allowing
Bellingham to control 500 decorative fixtures along with 3,100
cobra head fixtures. Similarly, Cambridge is coordinating control
of more than 7,000 fixtures. Providing customers with the
flexibility to control widely diverse lighting types across the
entire city landscape enables them to realize energy efficiency
goals without compromising occupant comfort and safety.
The IES Progress Report will be presented during the 2016 IES
Annual Conference, October 23-25, and published in the January 2017
issue of LD+A.
