EnCase® Endpoint Security Enhances Detection and Improves Incident Response

Guidance Software, makers of EnCase®, the gold standard for digital investigations and endpoint data security, is pleased to announce the release of EnCase Endpoint Security version 5.13. This enhanced software release delivers real-time continuous monitoring capabilities that empower cyber security professionals to identify endpoint changes over time, greatly improving security incident response. Version 5.13 also includes enhanced features to identify known indicators of compromise (IoCs) through improved support for YARA rules.

"Continuous endpoint monitoring helps enterprises maintain an accurate picture of their security posture and make better risk management decisions," said Jon Friedman, managing consultant at the research consultancy CyberEdge Group. “However, scanning endpoints non-stop can slow network performance. For many endpoints, a better approach is real-time continuous monitoring, where data is scanned at appropriate intervals using an automated tool. This gives incident responders the information they need, without overburdening the network or endpoints."

EnCase Endpoint Security software provides a greater depth and breadth of visibility than any other solution on the market. The addition of real-time continuous monitoring combines better detection, with the performance, scalability and detail that security teams require.

“Traditional approaches to endpoint security have failed to prevent serious breaches. Solving this challenge is a critical area for IT security groups — as most of the multi-million dollar cyberattacks in recent years involved compromised endpoints," said Michael Harris, chief marketing officer at Guidance Software. “EnCase Endpoint Security tackles this critical problem with an innovative solution that empowers our customers to root-out and eliminate threats that bypass the perimeter."

Version 5.13 includes new features that reduce the time to detect, validate, triage, investigate and remediate known and unknown threats across the enterprise. New capabilities include:

  • Real-Time Continuous Monitoring – It is critical to identify when suspicious endpoint changes occur in order to zero in on potential threats. This release enables the continuous capture of endpoint data to quickly identify these unusual changes across endpoints
  • Enhanced YARA Support Users can now search physical memory, in addition to data at rest, using YARA rules to define their criteria.
  • DFIR Timeline – Once a threat is detected, security teams require more information to identify the point-of-entry or root cause. EnCase Endpoint Security 5.13 delivers this capability via the ability to maintain a historical timeline of endpoint activity.

Part of Guidance Software’s forensic security suite, EnCase Endpoint Security is now available. For more information on pricing, packaging and upgrades, please contact sales@guid.com. For more information about Encase Endpoint Security visit www.guidancesoftware.com/encase-endpoint-security.
