ATLANTA, July 13, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As Special Olympics Georgia (SOGA) prepares for its upcoming State Masters Bowling Tournament, State Fall Games and State Horse Show, CEO Georgia Milton-Sheats announced that the organization received a $90,000 grant from The UPS Foundation.

The grant will be used towards the Volunteer Program, Project Unify in schools and the five annual State Competitions. SOGA will be able to enhance all State Competitions, enabling more athletes to participate and volunteers to receive better training. SOGA will also be able to increase the presence of Project Unify in schools across Georgia, encouraging students with and without intellectual disabilities to unite and form bonds of friendship and acceptance through sports training and competition.

"The continued support from The UPS Foundation means a great deal to not only the organization, but the individuals and families we serve," commented Milton-Sheats. "SOGA will be able to reach new heights in the level of sports training and athletic competition provided to our athletes and of awareness raised for individuals with intellectual disabilities."

"The UPS Foundation is honored to support SOGA's efforts to bring people with intellectual disabilities together where they are accepted, respected and able to exceed goals and shatter stereotypes," added Eduard Martinez, President of The UPS Foundation and Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer at UPS. "Our goal is to fund powerful programs that make a lasting difference to the global community."
