Sixty-four Chicago students, ages 14-16, will have the unique opportunity to experience the historic 2016 Copa América Centenario matches directly from the field. Sprint (NYSE: S), an official partner of Copa América Centenario, has teamed up with Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago’s Little Village Club and America SCORES Chicago by offering their members a chance to represent the City as flagbearers at opening ceremonies during the matches on June 5, 7, 10 and 22 at Soldier Field.

“These students are soccer enthusiasts so for many it’s both an honor for them to serve as a flagbearer, and a dream come true,” said Jim Mills, Sprint President of Illinois and Wisconsin. “We’re proud to work alongside Boys & Girls Club of Chicago and America SCORES Chicago to offer this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to our local youth.”

This year’s Copa América is not only designed to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first Copa América but it is also a chance to bring all of the Americas into one competition for the first time. Ten U.S.-based venues will host the prestigious South American tournament, including Chicago.

The flagbearers’ responsibilities include leading the referees and players onto the pitch for the start of the match and to position the country flags for the playing of the national anthems of the competing teams. Tickets to watch the matches will be provided to all of the flagbearers and their chaperones as well as specially created uniforms, meals and refreshments.

Landon Donovan, soccer legend, will be meeting with fans on Monday, June 6th from 5 – 7 p.m. at a local Sprint store in the Thompson Center. During the meet-and-greet, Sprint will be giving away free pairs of tickets to the USA vs. Costa Rica soccer match on June 10 and other prizes for the first several fans to tweet a picture on-site with the hashtags #Sprint4Chi and #Sprint4Copa. No purchase is necessary.
