ADRs End Mostly Lower; ArcelorMittal Rises

International stocks trading in New York closed mostly lower on
Tuesday. ArcelorMittal (MT, MT.FR, MT.AE) was among the companies
with American depositary receipts that traded actively.
The BNY Mellon index of ADRs fell 0.7% to 124.05. The European
index decreased 1% to 122.86, the Asian index rose 0.4% to 132.35,
the Latin American index dropped 1.7% to 165.51 and the
emerging-markets index declined 0.4% to 226.84.
Cliffs Natural Resources Inc. (CLF) said it reached a 10-year
agreement to supply Luxembourg-based steel giant ArcelorMittal (MT,
MT.FR, MT.AE) with iron-ore pellets. Pricing under the new
agreement will be tied to U.S. steel prices, as well as
iron-ore-based and general inflation indices. ArcelorMittal's ADRs
rose 3% to $4.86.
Chinese internet giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. (BABA) is
investing in an Israeli technology company that aims to improve
product searches on e-commerce websites. Tel Aviv-based Twiggle
said Tuesday that Alibaba has joined its latest investment round,
being led by South African conglomerate Naspers. Alibaba's ADRs
rose 1.3% to $82.
Preferred ADRs of Banco Bradesco SA (BBD, BBDO, BBDC4.BR),
Brazil's second-biggest private lender, fell 5.6% to $6.26 amid
media reports that Brazil's federal police have accused its chief
executive and others of money laundering and other
corruption-related offenses in a tax-related investigation.
French oil major Total SA (TOT, FP.FR) said it has bought oil
logistics terminals and gas stations in east Africa as part of a
strategy to diversify as pumping oil and gas from the ground has
become less profitable. Total said it bought Gulf Africa Petroleum
Corp.'s assets in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania for an undisclosed
amount. Total's ADRs fell 1% to $48.52 as oil prices eased.
