ST. GEORGE, Utah, May 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- SkyWest, Inc.,
(NASDAQ: SKYW) ("SkyWest") today reported 160,322 block hours in
April 2016, compared to 176,711 block
hours in April 2015, a decrease of
16,389 or 9.3%. The net decrease was consistent with
SkyWest's fleet transition plan to improve the mix of aircraft in
its fleet by adding new dual class aircraft to its fleet, while
reducing its single class aircraft.
The year-over-year net change was primarily driven by
approximately 4,800 additional block hours from its dual class
aircraft (E175s, CRJ900s and CRJ700s) and a decrease of
approximately 21,200 block hours from fewer single class aircraft
(CRJ200s, ERJ135s/145s and EMB120s).
In April 2016, SkyWest's dual
class aircraft represented approximately 42% of SkyWest's total
block hour production for the month compared to approximately 36%
for the month of April 2015.
SkyWest reported 647,194 block hours for year-to-date
April 2016, compared to 693,485 block
hours year-to-date April 2015, a
decrease of 46,291, or 6.7%. This net change was primarily
driven by approximately 29,100 additional block hours from its dual
class aircraft and a decrease of approximately 75,400 block hours
from fewer single class aircraft.
SkyWest had 96,297 departures in April
2016 compared to 104,634 in April
2015, a decrease of 8,337, or 8.0%. SkyWest generated
2.84 billion available seat miles (ASMs) for April 2016, compared to 3.04 billion ASMs for
April 2015, or a 6.7% decrease.
Additional flight statistics for April, including passengers
enplaned, revenue passenger miles, and passenger load factors, are
included in the accompanying table.
