Charles Schwab & Co. said its sites are back online after experiencing issues early Friday morning, the latest firm to suffer glitches during one of the most volatile weeks for markets in years.

"Schwab sites experienced issues this morning but are now back online," the retail brokerage tweeted around 9:28 a.m. EST Friday. "Clients should be able to log in as normal."

A representative for Schwab couldn't immediately be reached for further comment.

Recent market turmoil, driven by concern over a slowdown in China, has sparked a flurry of activity as institutional and individual investors alike try to navigate the wild movements in stock prices.

Clients at brokerages TD Ameritrade Holding Corp. and Scottrade Inc. reported issues logging on to their accounts and executing trades amid massive selloffs earlier in the week.
