NEW YORK, Aug. 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Former PGA TOUR
professional and TV analyst Mark Lye
and longtime radio personality Bruce
Murray will host a new weekly show on SiriusXM PGA TOUR
Radio, available nationwide on satellite radios (Sirius 208, XM 92)
on the SiriusXM app and at SiriusXM.com.
Time to Let it Fly with Murray & Lye will debut this
Tuesday, August 18 (8:00-9:00 pm ET) and will air every Tuesday
night. Lye has previously been an analyst on SiriusXM's pre-
and post-round coverage.
Each week the outspoken Lye and Murray will interview various
personalities from around the sport and talk with listeners about
the headline stories from the PGA TOUR and beyond. They will
examine and discuss today's game and players, and revisit Lye's
experiences as a player on tour. The show topics will often
extend beyond the scope of golf to delve into the hosts' other
interests including music, pop culture and the larger sports
world.
"I am very excited to start this show. It will give me an
opportunity to talk about the game in a way I was never able to
while I was on TV," said Lye. "Time to Let it Fly will
be my unfettered, unrestricted commentary on the way I see
things."
"Mark is a terrific addition to a very talented and
distinguished roster of hosts on SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio," said
Scott Greenstein, SiriusXM's
President and Chief Content Officer. "His experience as a
player, and later as a broadcaster, give him an exceptional
perspective on the game and we look forward to having him on every
week to share his insights with our listeners."
Originally from Napa Valley,
California, Lye attended San Jose State
University, where he was a three-time All-American. He
joined the PGA TOUR in 1977 after playing two years overseas.
His career is highlighted by victories in Europe, Australia and the U.S. He won the Order
of Merit title in Australia in
1976/1977. In an 18-year span on the PGA TOUR he recorded 41
top-10 finishes, including a victory at the 1983 Bank of Boston
Classic. He won that event with one of the biggest comebacks
in PGA TOUR history, coming back from eight strokes down on the
final day. Lye finished the 1983 season ranked
28th on the money list. The following year, he led
the Masters going into Sunday's play and eventually finished tied
for sixth. After retiring from the PGA TOUR and during his
time as a TV analyst he played in 45 Champions Tour events over six
years, where he had two top-10 and eight top-25 finishes.
In 2013, Lye founded the "Lucas Cup Pro-Am," named after his
son, Lucas, to benefit JDRF (formally known as Juvenile Diabetes
Research Foundation), and he is steadfastly committed to finding a
cure for type 1 diabetes, a disease that he and Lucas, now 10 years
old, both endure.
Bruce Murray has hosted several
shows on SiriusXM since joining the company in 2005. In
addition to Time to Let it Fly, Murray hosts The
SiriusXM Blitz alongside former NFL MVP Rich Gannon on the
SiriusXM NFL Radio channel.
