The fourth-annual TD Ameritrade Fan’s Choice Award recognizes college baseball players who excel beyond the diamond and whose leadership inspires others. Over the course of four weeks, 18 finalists competed online for fan votes via Facebook. As the winner, Wiese will be honored at the 2015 TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby, airing Thursday, July 2 at 8 p.m. EDT on ESPN.

A true leader by example, Caputo has been a two-year team captain at Rhode Island, with his work ethic setting the standard for the Rams, both on and off the field. A Kinesiology major, Caputo is a six-time Dean's List honoree and three-time member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll. He also represented all of Rhode Island's student-athletes as an honorary speaker at URI's annual Dean's List reception and, most recently, received the 2015 Elizabeth Holmes award at URI's annual Senior Banquet. The award recognizes the most outstanding male student-athlete who has combined exceptional scholastic achievement with outstanding athletic ability.

Despite his rigorous schedule of playing baseball year round and maintaining a Dean's List GPA, Caputo has gained significant experience in his field of study through volunteer work. At home on Long Island, he has spent time at North Shore LIJ Hospital as both a volunteer aide and a shadow for various Physical Therapists and Physician Assistants. While playing summer ball for the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod Baseball League in 2013, he was a Physical Therapy Aide at Beacon Physical Therapy. He then went on to spend the following summer playing for the Ocean State Waves (NECBL) and logged over 100 hours of volunteer work at nearby Olympic Physical Therapy, where he continued to be dedicated to his work as a Physical Therapy Aide throughout his senior year at URI.

“I want to say thank you to everyone who has voted over the past few weeks!” said Caputo. “I feel very blessed to have had so much support, not only for this contest, but throughout the entirety of my baseball career. It's been an honor just to be nominated among a group of such accomplished individuals, each of whom is deserving of this award. Throughout my life I've viewed the senior leaders on my teams as mentors and tried to emulate everything they did, and receiving this award kind of brings it full circle, as I am portraying this role to the best of my ability and hopefully sparking inspiration in my fellow teammates. I have to thank the mentors that have paved the road for me, as well as the teammates that I've led for their support and for buying into the program and believing in the process.”
