Alcoa Inc. (AA) has named Patricia Russo, formerly of Alcatel
Lucent, its lead director, effective today.
She replaces Judith Gueron, who has been on the board since 1988
and its lead director since 2010. Ms. Gueron didn't stand for
re-election and has retired.
Ms. Russo, a member of Alcoa's board since 2008, is the former
chief executive of communications company Alcatel Lucent. There,
she led Lucent's merger negotiations with the French company
Alcatel, later becoming chief executive. She also has worked at
AT&T Inc. and Avaya Inc.
As lead director, Ms. Russo will be chair of Alcoa's governance
and nominating committee.
Recently, New York-based aluminium company Alcoa swung to a
first-quarter profit on revenue growth that mostly stemmed from
strong volume in its divisions that make parts for the automotive
and aerospace markets.
Shares have been down about 11% this year through Thursday's
close.
