MIAMI BEACH, Fla., March 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Next Galaxy Corp.
(OTC: NXGA), a leading technology and content solutions company
developing dynamic, innovative consumer Virtual Reality content and
technology, is pleased to announce that the Company has entered
into an agreement with iconic basketball coach John Calipari to create an experience for CEEK's
Virtual Reality (VR) sports channel.
CEEK is creating fully-immersive content designed to be viewed
through VR devices such as the Samsung GEAR VR, Oculus Rift and
VRONE. The audio for the experience will be created using
omnidirectional sound customized for listening through Ceekars™,
Next Galaxy's first-in-class VR audio headset.
"I see unlimited uses for Next Galaxy's Virtual Reality
technologies in my personal and professional life, including for
the Calipari Foundation, to make a difference for communities and
people in need", commented John
Calipari. "As a sports fan, VR will allow me to go anywhere
with anyone to see a game from whatever seat we choose. As a
coach, it can help our team gain an edge through better
preparation. That's without mentioning other areas of
education and entertainment, such as music, social media or travel,
where VR has game-changing implications. I am glad to have
partnered with Next Galaxy for an experience and look forward to
the exciting times ahead."
"The passion and vision that Coach Calipari brings to the table
goes beyond sports; we are eager to begin designing an experience
with Coach Calipari that we are confident will appeal to millions
of people," said Mary Spio,
President of Next Galaxy Corp. "We have put together quite an
elite front court to launch our sports lineup as a pillar of CEEK
to be accessed via Ceek.com, with Syracuse's Jim Boeheim and now University of Kentucky's John Calipari, two of the most recognizable
names in college basketball. We are currently in active
discussions with sports teams and personalities, labels,
entertainers and organizations to grow our content across many
industries. We are positioned to make CEEK the definitive
destination for VR content."
A "players-first" coach with a penchant for helping people reach
their dreams, John Calipari has
guided five teams to the Final Four, led one to a national
championship and helped 31 players make it to the NBA (15
first-round picks) during his 22-year college coaching
career. Calipari reached the mountaintop in his third year in
Lexington, guiding the
University of Kentucky to its eighth
national championship and his first national title. He is one of
only two coaches to lead three different schools to a Final Four
(UMass-1996; Memphis-2008;
Kentucky-2011, 2012, 2014).
Entering the 2014-15 season, Calipari has amassed an overall
on-court record of 597-166, giving him the third-highest winning
percentage (.771) among active NCAA Division I coaches with 10
years experience at college basketball's Division I level.
Calipari also coached the NBA's New Jersey Nets from 1997 –
1999. Calipari's foundation, The Calipari Foundation, has
raised millions of dollars to help the lives of those in need
across the country, and in 2010, he used a telethon to raise more
than $1 million for victims of the
devastating earthquake in Haiti.
He followed that up with another telethon in 2012 that raised
$1 million for victims of Superstorm
Sandy.
