HONG KONG--Citigroup Inc. said Wednesday it has appointed Catherine Cai as chairman and head of China investment banking for the U.S. bank.

Ms. Cai, who has more than 20 years of experience in China investment banking, will report to Mark Slaughter, head of corporate and investment banking for Citi in Asia Pacific.

She joins Citi after 10-years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch where she was most recently chairman of China investment banking.
