LONDON-- Connectivity chip designer CSR PLC (CSR.LN) swung to a fourth quarter profit as growth in voice- and music-related activities helped boost margins.

The company, which last year agreed to be taken over by U.S. technology group Qualcomm Inc. (QCOM), Thursday reported a pretax profit of $5.2 million for the quarter ended December 26 against a $96.7 million loss the previous year, on revenue down to $188.1 million from $208.2 million.

"CSR is, we believe, well positioned to benefit from the opportunities to seamlessly connect people, devices and information, as well as the opportunities driven by the Internet of Things," said Chief Executive Joep van Beurden.
