Donald R. Keough, a legendary former Coca-Cola Co. executive, died early Tuesday at the age of 88, the company said.

Mr. Keough served as Coke's president and chief operating officer from 1981 to 1993. He was also a powerful director at the world's largest beverage company before retiring from the board in 2013.
