Sequans Communications S.A. (NYSE:SQNS) announced that its LTE
chip technology has been adopted by Micro-Star International Co.,
Ltd. (MSI), one of the world’s largest IT manufacturers, for the
design of a new “2-in-1” LTE tablet and keyboard, the S100 Note LTE
(model name ND12).
“We chose Sequans’ LTE technology because we believe it offers
the best price/performance among single-mode LTE chips available
today and it is well-proven in the marketplace,” said Paul Chang,
AVP, MSI. “Sequans LTE provides category 4, 150 Mbps speed and
other advanced features, making it ideal as a basis for the
high-performance S100 Note LTE.”
The Sequans technology inside the S100 Note LTE is the VZ20M
EZLinkLTE™ module, which is certified compliant with Verizon
Wireless Open Network specifications and operates on LTE bands 4
and 13. VZ20M is an M.2 module based on Sequans’ Mont Blanc LTE
platform. Mont Blanc is a single-mode LTE chipset platform
compliant with 3GPP release 9 specifications. It delivers category
4 throughput of up to 150 Mbps and supports eMBMS (LTE broadcast)
and other advanced features. The VZ20M module includes all elements
necessary for a complete LTE modem system. These include an
LTE-optimized RF transceiver and a complete dual-band RF front-end
for LTE bands 4 and 13, key interfaces, LP-DDR SDRAM, embedded boot
Flash, and VC-TCXO, all in a single, compact package, 30 x 42 x 2.3
mm. Sequans’ EZLinkLTE modules are pre-tested, pre-integrated, and
pre-certified and support all major operating systems, including
Android, Windows, Linux, Google Chrome, and MAC OS.
“Single-mode LTE is finding its way into more and more tablets
as its value is being realized,” said Craig Miller, VP marketing,
Sequans. “With Sequans, MSI was able to add LTE to its design at
low incremental cost while giving users the always-on power and
performance of LTE, which is becoming essential to users no longer
satisfied with reverting to slower speed 3G when Wi-Fi is not
available.”
The S100 Note LTE combines tablet and keyboard in one and is
designed for portability while serving the needs of both business
and individual users. In addition to LTE by Sequans, the S100 note
includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Electro Magnetic Active Digitizer with
pen and features an Intel CPU/GPU, a 10.1-inch screen with
capacitive touch pad, built in speakers, dual cameras (2 megapixel
front camera and 5 megapixel auto focus rear camera), 32GB/64GB
size options, and micro-USB, mini-HDMI, and AC adaptor ports.
