LONGMONT, Colo., Dec. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Lightwave Logic, Inc. (OTCQB: LWLG), a technology company focused on the development of Next Generation Photonic Devices and Non-Linear Optical Polymer Materials Systems for applications in high speed fiber-optic data communications and optical computing, announced today that the Company has conducted several preliminary tests to demonstrate aging characteristics of its organic, nonlinear electro-optic polymer materials.

Several blends of materials created by the Company's previously announced multi-chromophore process, were subjected to aging tests that include exposure to high temperatures (85C and 110C) for 300 hours.

The data collected indicates that there was minimal loss of electro optical activity (R33), even after over 120 hours at 110C.  These results exceed some previously published results by other research groups for an organic polymer and demonstrated acceptable longevity and electro-optical activity to satisfy the demands of short-haul (metro) telecommunications and data communications networks.

Tom Zelibor, Chairman and chief Executive Officer of Lightwave Logic stated, "These outstanding results confirm that our multi-chromophore process can engender not only extremely powerful organic polymers, but are also durable enough to function in a commercial environment.

"We are currently running additional confirmatory tests at even higher temperatures before coating our best material systems on our proprietary designed, bleached waveguide modulator prototypes. These prototypes are being produced using substrates received in early November from Reynard Corporation as previously announced.

"The bleached waveguide modulator represents our first commercially viable device, and targets metro networks (< 10Km) within large scale telecommunications and data communications networks and represents approximately a $300MM per year market opportunity for us.  With working prototypes in hand we will engage with several potential partners and customers who have shown interest in our technology that we have already been in discussions with."
