BETHESDA, Md., Nov. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Spherix
Incorporated (Nasdaq: SPEX) -- an intellectual property
development company committed to the fostering and monetization of
intellectual property, today provided an update
regarding Spherix v. VTech Telecommunications
Ltd., Case No. 3:13-cv-03494-M and Spherix v.
Uniden Corporation et al., Case No. 3:13-cv-03496-M, both in
the United States District Court for the Northern District of
Texas.
On November 21, 2014 the Markman
hearing for the Company's cases against VTech and Uniden was
conducted as scheduled.
Anthony Hayes, Chief Executive
Officer of Spherix, stated, "We completed another key step in our
cases against VTech and Uniden last Friday with the completion of
the Markman hearing. We are pleased with the efforts put forth by
our legal team to pursue enforcement of our intellectual property
rights and now await the Court's decision."
Markman hearings are an opportunity to address the Court by oral
argument. Each side argues to the judge its respective
position on how the key claim terms within a patent should be
construed. At some point following the Markman hearing, the
Court will issue a ruling on the construction of the key terms for
later use by the jury.
