First Insignia tablet with 4G available
now
Sequans Communications S.A. (NYSE: SQNS) announced that its LTE
chip technology has been adopted by Best Buy for its latest
Insignia™ tablet, the first 4G LTE tablet in Best Buy’s Insignia
product line. The Insignia 4G tablet is an 8” Android tablet with
embedded LTE certified for the network of Verizon Wireless.
“The always-on power of 4G LTE connectivity will make the user
experience even more compelling for this popular tablet,” said
Georges Karam, Sequans CEO. “Our advanced single-mode 4G LTE
technology is a great fit with the value and quality focus that is
the hallmark of Best Buy’s Insignia product line. We are pleased to
be working with the world’s largest consumer electronics retailer
to bring cutting-edge technology to the mainstream consumer
market.”
The Sequans technology inside the Insignia 4G tablet is the
VZ20M EZLinkLTE™ module, which is certified compliant with Verizon
Wireless Open Network specifications and operates on LTE bands 4
and 13. VZ20M is an M.2* module based on Sequans’ Mont Blanc LTE
platform. Mont Blanc is a single-mode LTE chipset platform
compliant with 3GPP release 9 specifications. It delivers category
4 throughput of up to 150 Mbps and supports eMBMS (LTE broadcast)
and other advanced features. The VZ20M module includes all elements
necessary for a complete LTE modem system. These include an
LTE-optimized RF transceiver and a complete dual-band RF front-end
for LTE bands 4 and 13, key interfaces, LP-DDR SDRAM, embedded boot
Flash, and VC-TCXO, all in a single, compact package, 30 x 42 x 2.3
mm. Sequans’ EZLinkLTE modules are pre-tested, pre-integrated, and
pre-certified and support all major operating systems, including
Android, Windows, Linux, Google Chrome, and MAC OS.
The Insignia 4G tablet is available now nationwide in most Best
Buy stores and online.
Note to Editors:
*The M.2 specification, published by the PCI-SIG, is a
next generation form factor for ultra-light and thin platforms. It
is an evolution from the MiniCard and Half MiniCard to a smaller
form factor in both size and volume, thereby supporting multiple
technologies including WWAN. More information is available at
