B&W Awarded $35 Million Contract to Supply Boilers and Environmental Equipment to the University of Alaska Fairbanks

The Babcock & Wilcox Company (NYSE:BWC) announced today that
its subsidiary, Babcock & Wilcox Power Generation Group, Inc.
(B&W PGG), has been awarded a contract for more than $35
million to design and manufacture two boilers and air quality
control equipment for a power plant owned by the University of
Alaska Fairbanks.
The two B&W PGG circulating fluidized bed boilers each will
be capable of producing up to 140,000 pounds per hour of steam for
campus heating and power. B&W PGG’s scope of work also includes
the design and supply of a pulse jet fabric filter baghouse for
particulate control, fuel feed system, boiler auxiliaries, dry
sorbent injection system and structural steel.

chosen B&W PGG and its technology to upgrade its campus power
plant,” B&W PGG President and Chief Operating Officer J.
Randall Data said. “This project is an example of how more
efficient boilers and new pollution control equipment can make
significant contributions to emissions reductions and the
production of cleaner energy.”
Engineering is currently underway and material delivery is
scheduled for spring 2016. Plant start-up is anticipated in spring
2018. The contract was booked in the third quarter.
