LONDON--U.K. natural gas company BG Group PLC (BG.LN) has
recruited the head of Statoil AS (STO), Helge Lund, to be its new
chief executive.
Mr. Lund, who ran the Norwegian oil company for ten years after
two years heading industrial conglomerate Aker Kvaerner, will join
BG in March, BG said on Wednesday.
"[Mr. Lund.] has built a world-class exploration and production
portfolio at Statoil, and the company is now widely admired for its
technical expertise, financial performance and strong, values-based
culture," said BG Chairman Andrew Gould.
"Helge is ideally suited to lead BG Group in the next phase of
its growth, and to accelerate the creation and delivery of value
for our shareholders," Mr. Gould added.
In a separate announcement Wednesday, BG reported the start of
the production from the Iracema area in an offshore block in
Brazil's Santos Basin.
