BROOMFIELD, Colo., Aug. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Level 3
Communications, Inc. (NYSE: LVLT) announced the company is now an
authorized vendor as part of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts ITT46 network services contract.
The statewide contract allows Level 3 to offer its network
connectivity and communications services directly to a range of
public sector agencies, enhancing their infrastructure and
capabilities to improve operations and streamline delivery of
critical information and services.
Similar to many enterprises, state agencies, educational
institutions and local governments across Massachusetts face increasingly complex
demands to update, manage and protect their communications
infrastructure in a more efficient and effective manner. By
contracting with Level 3, these entities can tap into its network
scale and technology expertise to keep pace and improve
productivity, while also reducing network costs and management
needs under a single, pre-approved vendor contract.
As part of ITT46, Level 3 offers voice, data, video and network
security services via its global fiber-optic network with
connectivity to Commonwealth buildings throughout the state,
including data center facilities in Boston, Worcester and Springfield, Massachusetts. These services are
designed to provide institutions statewide with the capabilities to
support high-demand applications, such as storage virtualization,
Big Data analytics, cloud computing and multi-media content
distribution. They also offer a platform for future growth to
ensure that the network infrastructure established today can easily
expand to meet the future needs of the local workforce and
constituents.
"Level 3 has a strong track record of delivering network
services to the public sector, providing global network reach with
a deep metro market footprint and comprehensive services
portfolio," said Edward Morche,
senior vice president of East Region Enterprise and Government
Markets for Level 3. "The Commonwealth of Massachusetts ITT46 network services contract
is an important vehicle for all public sector institutions to gain
buying power and access to Level 3's advanced network capabilities
to improve statewide communications and achieve operating
efficiencies."
