PARIS--French aerospace equipment supplier Safran SA (SAF.FR) said Thursday it will partner with General Electric Co. (GE) on the new engine for the Boeing Co.'s (BA) 777X long-haul airliner, which is slated to enter service in about 2020.

Two Safran companies, Snecma and Techspace Aero, will work with GE on the new engine, Safran said in statement.

Safran will have a stake of about 11% in the program.
