ST. PAUL, Minn., April 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- What do pancake
breakfasts, a lobster boil, a pig-kissing contest and roller
skating have in common? Each helped raise food, funds and grain for
the fourth annual CHS Harvest for Hunger campaign.
More than $512,000 and 443,000
pounds of food are headed to hungry families, thanks to the CHS
Harvest for Hunger food and funds drive by the Country Operations
division of CHS Inc. (NASDAQ: CHSCP), the nation's leading
farmer-owned cooperative.
Since the program's launch in 2011, more than $1.6 million and 2.1 million pounds of food have
been raised. Donations collected went to regional food banks. More
than 50 CHS business units and more than 4,000 employees
participated in the 2014 Harvest for Hunger drive held March 1-20.
"We couldn't be more proud of the thousands of CHS employees,
customers and partners who rallied in support of this effort. It's
powerful to see how each dollar, food item and donation of grain or
produce can make a tremendous difference for those in need," says
John McEnroe, executive vice
president, CHS Country Operations.
CHS Country Operations boosted donations to CHS Harvest for
Hunger by more than $320,000 in
additional contributions to local communities to help friends and
neighbors.
