General Motors Company Analyst Notes

On March 3, 2014, General Motors Company (GM) announced that its dealers delivered 222,104 vehicles in the United States in February 2014. GM stated that the total sales, which were down 1% YoY, beat outside expectations. Also, the Company's retail and fleet sales were both down 1% YoY. However, on a month on month basis, GM increased its sales by 30% (from January 2014), more than 10 percentage points better than the industry as a whole. "Weather continued to impact the industry in February, but GM sales started to thaw during the Winter Olympic Games as our brand and marketing messages took hold," said Kurt McNeil, U.S. Vice President of Sales Operations, GM. "Car and crossover sales were particularly strong at Buick and Chevrolet, and we continue to have a strong mix of pickup sales." Honda Motor Co., Ltd. Analyst Notes

On February 26, 2014, Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (Honda) announced a summary of automobile production, Japan domestic sales, and export results for the month of January 2014. According to Honda, production in January 2014 experienced a 65.3% YoY increase, representing the fifth consecutive month of growth since September 2013; while production in regions outside Japan experienced a 0.9% YoY decrease, representing the first decline in 24 months since January 2012. Honda set record high production in Asia during the month with 110,475 automobiles, reflecting an 8.9% YoY increase - the 15th consecutive month of growth since November 2012. This also included record high production in China. Further, total production worldwide experienced a year-on-year increase for the sixth consecutive month since August 2013 of 10.5%, and set a record high production during January 2014 of 378,718 automobiles.
