Former EMC Global Services Director Will Oversee Consulting Services for Data Center Transformation

Datalink (Nasdaq:DTLK), a leading provider of data center infrastructure and services, today announced the appointment of IT consulting services veteran Steve Zipperman to serve in the new position of General Manager of Advanced Services. Formerly with EMC and Accenture, Zipperman is responsible for leading Datalink’s Advanced Services organization. This organization will help customers optimize and transform their data centers to drive greater business value and will provide consulting services that complement Datalink’s existing implementation and support services.

Zipperman’s appointment marks the latest step in the continuing expansion of Datalink’s services portfolio, going beyond the company’s current services offerings, which span strategy and design through execution, support and ongoing management. His background and experience creating service offerings that complement Datalink’s core business and his proven track record of delivering high-value services that are relevant to today’s IT organizations will be instrumental in continuing to drive Datalink’s growth strategy.

Zipperman will guide the expansion, delivery, and client satisfaction of four Advanced Services practice areas: Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery, Data Center Transformation and Migration, Cloud, and IT Service Management for creating service-driven IT organizations. These four practices cover the entire IT lifecycle from needs assessment to strategy definition, plan development, execution and ongoing support.

“Companies, today, are recognizing the need to change the way their data centers operate to take advantage of new technologies, and to incorporate cloud computing consumption models while at the same time continuing to increase overall efficiency and return on investment, but they need help doing it. That’s why our services portfolio and revenues continue to grow,” said Datalink President and CEO Paul Lidsky. “With his deep background in IT services, Steve is exceptionally qualified to ensure that we provide the additional services our customers need to successfully optimize their data centers to maximize the benefits to their businesses.”

“Datalink’s long-standing focus on physical and virtual data center design and implementation, coupled with its expanding range of services offerings, provide a strong foundation for helping organizations create data centers with the ever increasing agility, flexibility and cost-effectiveness required in today’s business environment,” Zipperman said. “Joining the company gives me the opportunity to help companies drive this transition and realize the benefits of data center transformation.”

Zipperman comes to Datalink after five years as Director of Global Services, a part of EMC’s consulting division, where he was responsible for more than 400 employees, including 350 consultants. He previously spent six years at Accenture running the Americas IT Service Management practice. He earned a BA in Finance from the University of Arizona, beginning his career as a tax and audit professional with Arthur Andersen, LLP.
