Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) on Tuesday reported flaring at its oil refinery in Port Arthur, Texas, when a wet gas compressor tripped at the plant's coker unit, a filing to the National Response Center said.
The incident caused emissions of hydrogen sulfide to be routed to the safety flare system at around 3 p.m. CDT on Tuesday, the filing said.
It is not clear whether the compressor was restarted or if the event had any impact to production.
A Valero representative wasn't immediately available to comment.
The Port Arthur refinery's total throughput capacity is rated at 310,000 barrels a day.
