Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) will start repairs this week on the damaged North Line pipeline that leaked nearly 1,900 barrel of oil in rural Louisiana last month.
Exxon shut down the crude oil pipeline after it detected the leak on April 28. The U.S. Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration sent Exxon an order that prevents the company from restarting operations on the failed segment until the agency is satisfied with repairs.
The company will start repairs on the damaged section this week, Exxon spokeswoman Claire Hassett said. Exxon restarted an undamaged stretch of the line Sunday.
Exxon has not set a restart date for the pipeline, Hassett said.
The cause of the leak is still being investigated, PHMSA said.
