Alcatel-Lucent SA (ALU) said Thursday that it has been selected by America Movil (AMOV), the leading wireless services provider in Latin America, to provide infrastructure for its LTE/4G mobile network rollout in Latin America.
- Financial terms of the contract weren't disclosed.
- The deployment will begin with America Movil's operator Claro which will launch its high-speed mobile broadband services to subscribers in Puerto Rico in the coming weeks.
- Networks will be able to offer broadband access with speeds as high as 100 megabits per second, including HD video with video on demand, X10 higher high-speed navigation, high definition videoconferencing, online gaming and other applications.
