Yum Brands Inc.'s (YUM) Taco Bell chain is being investigated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for involvement in a Salmonella outbreak that sickened 68 people in ten states, Food Safety News reported Wednesday, citing a document from Oklahoma health authorities.
The CDC reported on Jan. 19 that a Mexican-style fast food chain was being investigated in an outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis, but declined to name the company because it felt there was no public health reason to, the online newspaper said. Food Safety News said a document from the Oklahoma State Department of Health's Acute Disease Service identified Taco Bell.
Food Safety News said Taco Bell hasn't responded to its requests for comment.
