Truck makers Oshkosh Corp. (OSK) and Navistar International Corp. (NAV) will receive orders for 2,800 armored-patrol trucks for U.S. troops, according Inside Defense, a defense-industry trade publication.
Defense Newsstand, the publication's news Web site, reported Tuesday that Oshkosh will receive additional orders for at least 1,460 all-terrain armored trucks already being built by the company. Navistar is expected to initially receive orders for at least 1,050 mine-resistant armored trucks. Navistar has supplied more than 6,400 armored trucks to the U.S. military but hasn't received any new orders in more than a year as the military opted for the smaller, lighter truck being built by Oshkosh.
Representatives from the two companies declined to comment on the report, saying they haven't received notice any additional truck orders. Representatives from the Pentagon couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
